The Yale Collection of American Literature Reading Series is co-sponsoring a reading by the poet Ron Padgett. The event, hosted by the Grad Poets Reading Series, will also feature readings by Yale graduate student poets.

Ron Padgett is poet, translator, and memoirist. Ron Padgett was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1942. With Ted Berrigan and others, Padgett reinvented the New York School of Poetry in the mid-1960s. He has published over fourteen books, and is regarded as the definitive translator of Blaise Cendrars and Apollinaire. His poetry has been translated into fourteen languages and has appeared in The Best American Poetry, Poetry 180, Postmodern American Poetry: A Norton Anthology, and The Oxford Book of American Poetry, and on Garrison Keillor’s Writer’s Almanac. A guest on Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion, Padgett is also a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets and the winner of the Poetry Society of America’s Shelley Memorial Award.
