Miller is the author of “Origins of the Dream: Hughes’s Poetry and King’s Rhetoric” (University of Florida Press, 2016), which traces the Rev, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s use of Langston Hughes’s poetry in his sermons and speeches from 1956-1968.
Miller’s research interests include twentieth-century American Poetry, American Literature, literary theory, and pedagogy. His most recent book is “Langston Hughes (Critical Lives)” (Reaktion Books, 2020). He is the author also of “Langston Hughes and American Lynching Culture” (University of Florida Press, 2011).
