Biography

Laura Rattray is a Lecturer in American literature at the University of Hull. Her research interests focus on late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century American writing, gender and publishing history. Recent work includes editing The Unpublished Writings of Edith Wharton (Pickering and Chatto, 2009), Edith Wharton’s The Custom of the Country: A Reassessment (Pickering and Chatto, 2010), and articles on F. Scott Fitzgerald, Josephine Johnson and the Hollywood novels of Horace McCoy. Her time at the Beinecke Library will be spent completing work on Edith Wharton in Contextfor Cambridge University Press.
