Todd Reeser
Todd Reeser is an associate professor of French at the University of Pittsburgh, where he has taught since 2004. His first published book dealt with the reception of Aristotelian notions of masculinity and gender in key texts of the Renaissance, and his book on interdisciplinary, humanities-based approaches to the study of masculinity appeared in 2010. He has coedited a volume on French masculinities, and a volume for the MLA on teaching Rabelais. He is currently completing a monograph that examines the textual reception of Platonic sexuality in fifteenth- and sixteenth-century Europe. Titled Setting Plato Straight: Translating Ancient Sexuality in the Renaissance, his project studies translations, commentaries, fiction, and other types of texts that display a relation to (Neo)Platonism and to gender and sexuality.
