Zoe Trodd will begin teaching at Columbia University this Fall, in the departments of English and African American Studies. Her undergraduate and graduate courses will be on African American historical memory, protest literature and visual culture. She recently completed a postdoctoral year at UNC Chapel Hill and received a PhD from Harvard University’s History of American Civilization program in 2009. Her books include Meteor of War: The John Brown Story (2004), American Protest Literature (2006) and To Plead Our Own Cause (2008). At Beinecke she will be conducting research on Langston Hughes, Richard Wright and other African American writers, in order to complete a book about the memory of abolitionism in 20th century protest literature.
